Celebrate the richness of South African choral music with the UCT Cantiamo Choir, presented by the Vocal Division of the South African College of Music. The programme features Ihubo 47, a seven-part setting of Psalm 47, by Qinisela Sibisi, whose work blends African melodic traditions with Western classical choral writing. Sibisi is celebrated for creating works that fuse African melodic traditions with the grandeur and structure of Western classical choral writing. Conducted by Patrick Tikolo, the piece is an expression of praise, rhythm and collective song. The evening also includes folksongs and popular gems conducted by Sipho Fubesi, with accompaniment by pianist Dirk Nagtegaal.
The first 100 UCT students receive free entry (early bird), after which UCT student tickets will cost R50.
