It is time for the 28th Annual Evotel Memel to Newcastle, taking place on Thursday, 24 September 2026.
This long-standing event began in 1994 with just 11 students and three teachers from Amajuba High School walking from Memel in the Free State to Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal. Today, it has grown from those 14 original participants to host hundreds of athletes.
The 51.7 km route is highly popular with both runners and walkers and features 18 water stations to support participants. Goodie bags will be awarded to the first 500 entrants, and all finishers will receive a medal.
