People on the Move is a powerful dance-theatre work exploring exile, migration, displacement and the search for belonging. Choreographed by award-winning Sbonakaliso Ndaba, it combines African contemporary dance, storytelling, narration, drama, music and theatrical imagery. Inspired by the journeys of South Africans forced into exile and others who leave through necessity, conviction, hope or survival, the work asks what we carry with us when we leave and what we become along the way. Its musical landscape features the work of Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela and Abdullah Ibrahim, three legendary South African artists who lived and worked in exile during apartheid.
